Cheryl Rubin, known as “Batman’s manager” during her career at Warner Bros. and DC Comics, is an expert in creative strategy, brand marketing, brand extension licensing and intellectual property franchise management.
Cheryl was formerly Senior Vice President Brand Management for Warner Bros./DC Entertainment, where she managed the growth of DC Comics’ portfolio of iconic properties, including Batman, into over $16B in retail sales across entertainment, promotions and consumer products.
An expert at managing complex franchise and creative integration programs with multiple stakeholders and partners, she supervised brand management and brand extension licensing across Warner Bros. and Time Warner divisions during major film, TV, and interactive game releases for DC’s portfolio from 1987- 2010.
Cheryl led creative teams in the development of creative strategies to successfully drive and support licensed consumer products, producing over four hundred brand style guides. She also supervised product development across all categories, managed DC’s global licensed publishing program and new business development. Additionally, she supervised DC’s own vertically integrated collectibles business, DC Direct, maintaining #1 market share in the comics industry for 10 years consecutively.
Cheryl is an Adjunct Professor in Licensing and Merchandising at New York University.
Cheryl served two terms on the Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA) Board of Directors. She has been a guest speaker at NYU, Storyworld – the leading Transmedia conference, Licensing Expo, and for LIMA.Back
